Latest university project taps into creativity of students

Mayflower Engineering recently engaged with students from Sheffield Hallam University on two business improvement projects. The project is the latest scheme between the two organisations, following the launch of two Enhanced Mentored Internships last year.

Students studying accounting and finance courses were tasked with evaluating Mayflower’s current sales forecasting methods and providing recommendations for more accurate methods that the company could adopt. Students on the Business Economics course received a brief to conduct market research to identify ways in which Mayflower could increase sales in new markets.

The students’ final presentations for each module took place at Sheffield Hallam University and each set of presentations were attended by representatives from Mayflower.

The Mayflower team all reported on how impressed they were with the presentations and in addition they were able to give valuable feedback to the students on the information and recommendations provided. Joe Wright commented that, “Venture Matrix is a great way of solving problems because it allows you to tap into the creativity and enthusiasm of the students, who approach the issue from completely new perspectives.”
