CAD Draughtsman

We are currently looking to recruit a CAD Draughtsperson in our Technical Department to work on full turn-key specialist Mechanical Engineering projects associated with a diverse range of medium to heavy industrial, utility and infrastructure applications.

Reporting to the Design Manager the successful candidate will:

 

• Hold a recognised qualification in Mechanical Engineering to minimum HNC level or equivalent.

• Be competent using a 3D CAD package, ideally Solid Works.
• Have a demonstrable background in producing assembly and detail drawing using 3D CAD package including – typically but not exclusively; lever and linkage systems, drive systems chain/sprocket/gear drive arrangements all of which when integrated with associated fabricated, machined and assembled steelwork, form bespoke machines to suit a clients specific requirements.
• Be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of geometric tolerances, limits and fits, appropriate use of datums, appropriate surface finishes, welding symbols etc.
• Be able to check their own work and the work of other team members for accuracy and completeness.
• Be experienced in working as part of team on engineering design projects.
• Have good familiarity with manufacturing activities including fabrication and machining.
• Have good verbal and written communication skills at all levels.
• Be a team player also with the ability to work independently.
• Have good time management skills and able to manage the demands of working on multiple projects.
• Possess initiative in all aspects of the job role.
• Be committed to meeting project milestones and cost budgets.
• Have good PC literacy skills using Word, Excel and other Office applications.
