Buyer/Expeditor

The successful candidate will be joining our purchasing team to source raw materials, equipment and sub-contract services that are required for the manufacturing process of contracts; ensuring that cost-effective products and services are acquired.We would expect applicants to be able to demonstrate an extensive background in the purchasing of materials, equipment and services within the materials handling and mechanical engineering sector e.g. steel; plates; sections; sprockets and gears; consumables and services. CIPS qualification would advantageous but not essential.

 

The company’s client base is wide ranging as is the extent of our manufacturing capability and in recognition of this, we would provide full support and back-up during the initial period of introduction to the company’s Purchasing Department. We would expect the successful applicant to:

 

·                    Manage, administer & expedite the purchase of goods and services in a project driven environment.

·                    Ensure that enquiries, orders and queries are answered and managed efficiently in a clear, transparent manner and in accordance with MEL company policies.

·                    Negotiate the very best deal for MEL whilst paying strict attention to the contract budget and delivery timescales.

·                    Develop and maintain supplier relationships at an appropriate level, carrying out supplier visits when necessary thereby developing close working partnerships with key suppliers.

·                    Establish critical path deadlines and expedite as appropriate.
