Estimating, Planning and CNC Laser/Plasma Programming Engineer

We are currently looking to recruit a permanent Estimating, Planning and CNC Laser/Plasma Programming Engineer to work within our Estimating and Planning Department on a diverse range of medium to heavy Mechanical Engineering projects.

Reporting directly to the Business Development Manager, the successful candidate would be required to have a minimum of three years’ experience within an Engineering estimating, planning and CNC programming role and would be able to demonstrate a competency, through experience, in the production to prepare sales estimates, win customer orders, plan work orders and produce CNC programmes for the company’s cutting machines.

A working knowledge of nesting software packages is essential e.g. Sigmanest or Columbus.

The company’s client base is wide ranging as is the extent of our manufacturing capability and in recognition of this, we would provide full support and back-up during the initial period of introduction to the company’s Estimating and Planning Department.

The successful candidate will possess a clear understanding and experience in the following:

  • Preparation of sales quotations and estimates.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and specifications.
  • Sourcing of materials and components to compile accurate quotations.
  • Liaising with customers.

Skills & attributes required for the role:

  • Proven estimating experience within an engineering background.
  • A good understanding and interpretation of engineering drawings.
  • An ability to transfer programs to and from host computer.
  • Attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Well organised and methodical.
  • Enthusiastic with a strong desire to progress.
  • Ability to work to deadline.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office and administration.
  • Experience using Sigmanest, Radan, Columbus or similar.
